Healthcare Leadership Team
Richard Brooks
President, Healthcare Division, Connect America
As President of Connect America’s Healthcare Division, Richard Brooks is responsible for business management and marketing of its state-of-the-art solutions to hospitals, homecare agencies, visiting nurse associations and state and local Medicaid agencies located throughout the United States.
Richard has been a leader in the PERS industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Connect America, he was President and CEO of Health Watch, Inc., the second largest PERS Company in the industry. At the time of its sale to Philips Electronics, the company had over 125,000 subscribers located throughout the United States.
Richard holds a Juris Doctor, Law from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law, and is also a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors of the Medical Alert Monitoring Association (MAMA).
Steve Abate
Executive Vice President, Healthcare Division Connect America
Steven Abate is Executive Vice President for Connect America’s Medical Alert Healthcare Division where he coordinates the Sales, Marketing and Government Services Departments. He brings to his role more than 30 years of specialized service in the remote healthcare monitoring field and is highly regarded in the industry for his expertise.
During his tenure with the company since 2012, Steven helped to launch important new technology care initiatives, including Connect America Telehealth services, among others.
Previously, Steven worked for Health Watch, Inc., and prior, owned and operated his own Emergency Response Medical Alarm company. He is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia.
Jim Reilly
Vice President of Telehealth, Connect America
As Vice President, Telehealth within Connect America’s Healthcare Division, Jim Reilly is responsible for sales and product development for ConnectVitals™ Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Services, including the development of clinical workflow for new clients and marketing programs to both acute and post-acute healthcare markets. In his role, Jim oversees client management, technology integration and education, product selection, and clinical support with the goal of keeping individuals safe and independent in the most cost effective settings.
For the prior 15 years, Jim effectively developed technology integrated care models for the disabled and aging populations that enhance quality of life while reducing utilization.
Jim received both his MBA and BSN from Eastern University and has more than 25 years of progressive management experience in healthcare.
Gina Sicker
Vice President of Customer Relations, Connect America
Gina Sicker oversees account and relationship management for the Connect America’s Direct Service Providers and Managed Care/Medicaid Programs.
Since beginning her career in 1991 with American Medical Alert Corporation, Gina has been in the connected care industry for 28 years.

John Brady
Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer (COO/CFO), Connect America
John Brady serves as Connect America’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), managing supply chain, fulfillment, customer service, and financial operations for the company.
A long-time industry veteran, John established The Resource Group, Inc. and later transferred the Security Group to TRG Associates, Inc. Previously, John acted as General Manager, Installation, and Service Manager for more than twenty alarm companies, with a focus on improving installation quality, service response, technical training, and system design.
Earlier in his career, John served as Controller for the Mount Tolman Mining project on the Colville Indian Reservation in Grand Coulee, WA. Before that, he held CFO or Treasury positions with Page Wilson, Smith & Wesson, and Setlowear, prior to joining Securitylink as CFO.
John earned his MBA from Babson College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Connecticut CPA certification.
Vijay Karia
Chief Digital Officer, Connect America
As Connect America’s Chief Digital Officer, Vijay Karia is responsible for the company’s media, marketing, digital, and IT teams.
Previously, Vijay led the development and implementation of enterprise systems at NYSE Euronext and KGB, including CRM, web, financial, accounting, and human resources systems. He has managed technology teams in the U.S. as well as London, Paris, and the Philippines.
Prior to starting his career in technology, Vijay competed on the men’s ATP professional tennis circuit. Vijay also holds a BSBA degree from Boston University Questrom School of Business.
